With over one million visitors every year, The Little Mermaid is the most popular lady in Copenhagen. The bronze statue only measures 1,25m tall and sits on a rock by the waterside promenade at Langelinie. There are no time restrictions or admission for visiting as it is an open area.

Pretty much any time of the day, The Little Mermaid is surrounded by tourists, taking turns posing with the iconic statue. It can get very busy -come early in the day to avoid the crowds.

The statue was ordered by Carl Jacobsen, son of the founder of Carlsberg, after his visit to the ballet about fairytale story The Little Mermaid. It was made by sculptor Edvard Eriksen and unveiled at it’s current location in 1913. Jacobsen was a passionate art collector, in particularly of sculpture, and he donated his personal collection of works that founded Glyptoteket art museum.

Around the corner from The Little Mermaid is restaurant and bar Toldboden. Located in the old customs building by the waterside it is a nice place for a lunch or coffee with a view over the harbor.

Med over en million besøger hvert år er Den Lille Havfrue Københavns mest populære dame. Bronzestatuen måler kun 1,25m og sidder på en klippe ved strandpromenaden ved Langelinie. Der er ingen tidsbegrænsning for besøgere, da det er et åbent område.

Ethvert tidspunkt på dagen er Den Lille Havfrue omgivet af turister, der skiftes om at posere ved siden af den ikoniske statue. Kom tidligt på dagen for at undgå folkemængder.

Statuen blev bestilt af Carl Jacobsen, søn af grundlæggeren af Carlsberg, efter hans besøg i balletten om Den Lille Havfrue. Den blev lavet af billedhuggeren Edvard Eriksen og afsløret på det nuværende sted i 1913. Jacobsen var en lidenskabelig kunstsamler, især af skulptur, og han donerede sin personlige samling af værker der grundlagde Glyptoteket kunstmuseum.

Rundt om hjørnet fra Den Lille Havfrue finder man restaurant og bar Toldboden. Med sin beliggenhed i den gamle toldbygning ved havnefronten er det et dejligt sted at spise frokost eller kaffe med havudsigt.
